Both Eco Beach inhouse guests and day visitors can enjoy horse riding - available every day in the early morning and at sunset when Mother Nature is at her best. The warm Kimberley sun and massive tides are also at their lowest at dusk and dawn, enabling a comfortable ride and full beach access.

Novices can benefit from Jo's expert tuition and experienced riders can enjoy a great ride on hardy ex-stock working horses. The views are breathtaking, the colours stunning and the feeling of freedom inspiring.

Beach Ride

The beach ride meanders through the back of Cape Villaret's extensive sand dune system, arriving on the beach 2.5km from the retreat. Canter along white, sandy beaches and keep your eyes peeled for washed up treasures, shell middens and active marine life. Dugongs, dolphins, turtles and fish are often spotted rejoicing in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Cape Villaret Trek

For the more experienced rider, this trek winds through the Kimberley's coastal bushland to the heights of Cape Villaret and William Dampier's Lookout. Spectacular 360 degree views take in the Australian outback, the Indian Ocean and Eco Beach. This is when you really feel removed from civilisation! There's absolutely nothing else for miles and miles....

From William Dampier's Lookout, Jo takes you down the back of the sand dunes to the perimeter of Barn Hill Station, one of the Kimberley's many Brahman cattle stations. A magnificent string of pindan (red earth) cliffs, caves, ancient rock formations provide a magnificent visual backdrop. Bird life is abundant and you may even spot some of the elusive Kimberley fauna.
