The Eco Beach Nature Walk meanders through a unique coastal dune thicket ecosystem behind the rocky outcrops of Cape Villaret. Relatively dense pockets of remnant rainforest, rich in plant and animal life, remain significant to the local Aborigines. There are several sacred Aboriginal sites around Eco Beach, but out of respect for the local Aborigines, these sites will not be opened up to tourism.

The 3km trail begins near Jack's Bar/Restaurant and ends on the beach in front of the retreat - allow 2 hours. A guide book and interpretive signs help identify significant plant and animal species and geology along the way. The best times of day to hike the Eco Beach Nature Trail are at dawn and dusk when Mother Nature is at her best. The warm Kimberley sun and massive tides are also at their lowest at dusk and dawn, enabling and a comfortable temperature for hiking and full beach access. Day visitors are also welcome to hike the Eco Beach Nature Trail.

William Dampier's Lookout offers spectacular 360 degree views of the Australian outback, the Indian Ocean and Eco Beach - an inspiring point to catch your breath. As you venture towards the coast, you will discover the 'Mini Bungles' - a spiritual site of small, bee-hive shaped sandstone rocks. These ancient landforms, carved by wind and sea, are some 100-150 million years old! The trail continues through the Kimberley bush before arriving in one of Cape Villaret's many secluded coves. Wander back barefoot along the beach and make time for a refreshing dip in the Indian Ocean.
